Roman Style Grilled Ham and Cheese

A quick, inexpensive, simple and delicious lunch!

Ingredients for 2 sandwiches:

  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Tbs milk
  • Dijon mustard
  • Butter or Margarine

Assemble sandwiches by spreading mustard on each slice, then top two pieces of the bread with cheese, then ham, then more cheese. Top with the other two slices of bread.

Mix together eggs and milk. Put a sandwich in the egg mixture for 15 seconds, turn and remove from mixture after 15 more seconds.

Heat a frying pan with butter/margarine while the sandwich soaks in the egg mixture.

Preheat oven to 300.

Brown each sandwich in the frying pan or on a grill/griddle a few minutes on each side, adding butter/margarine before flipping.

When the bread has lightly browned on each side, lay sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake 5-10 minutes, flipping once about halfway through.
